Can the purchase of window screens be a tax deduction for energy conservation?

tm-ark asked:

We had wrapped our duct work to conserve heat and were able to take the deduction for that. Buying screens will save energy by not running the AC. Can the cost be a deduction as well? What about a screen/storm door?

No, screens don’t insulate the house or save AC. You can open your window with or without screens. They just protect against bugs and that’s not deductible.

Screens don’t qualify for an energy credit. The storm door and insulation might.
