New regulations may cost them considerable money in infrastructure changes. Also, if conservation becomes a way of life for enough of their customers, it will radically change their business. A shift toward renewable energy or cutting back on energy consumption will have implications for the Energy companies. It’s important to them because gov’t policy may effect their industry.
